The Welcome Centre has been invited to take part in the annual Rotary dragon boat race and we need your help!
To be held on the 7th July 2018 on Pugneys Country Park Lake in Wakefield, the Huddersfield and Wakefield Chantry Rotary clubs are ready to welcome our team and others from across West Yorkshire to take part in this annual fundraiser and we’d like to enter a team.
What’s involved if I join the team?
The Dragon Boat Challenge will consist of each team racing 3 times during the day. The final will be between the 6 teams with the best aggregate times, racing head to head to see who is crowned the winner and take the Stuart Wardell Memorial Trophy to keep for one year. There will also be a ladies final between the 4 fastest teams consisting of at least 50% ladies.
To enter we need another 10 volunteers.
We need a team – Our team needs to consist of a maximum of 16 paddlers and 1 drummer.
Age Limit – All team members must be 16 years of age or over.
Medical restrictions – Team members must be reasonably fit, able to swim 50 metres wearing a life jacket.
Does it cost anything? – The Welcome Centre would cover the entry cost however each team member is encouraged to raise a minimum of £50 for the Welcome Centre which is achievable.
